The Strap Frag series are wall based assemblages presented as paintings. The materials used are essentially 2 dimensional, but sometimes employ textural and physically overt surfaces. Many of the elements used in making the paintings are actually direct lifts of surfaces such as wooden floors and deteriorating wall board capturing physical remnants such as paint spills, wood grain, and debris. Various kinds of repurposed materials are utilized. Although the patina and given appearance of the materials often determine the color, paint is also employed.
The works attach directly to the wall and lay very flat. When viewed first hand at a little distance, they often give the feeling of an applied decal and have an illusional, spatial affect in their relationship to the surrounding wall.
